Murray ready for clay-court seasonPosted on 17/04/2013 in Blog, Tennis
Andy Murray begins his clay-court season today (April 17th) when he takes on Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters.
The world number two received a bye in the first round and he now has three tournaments in which to hone his skills on the red surface before the year's second grand slam – the French Open – begins on the May 26th.
Murray said: "The movement has been the thing that I needed to improve on clay and I feel like I'm moving better this year.
"It has always taken me a little while to get used to the clay. I expect to give 110 per cent, to work hard in practice."
The Scotsman believes that if he continues to work hard then he will have a chance of picking up his second major after he claimed the US Open title last year.
Vasselin is ranked 81st in the world, but has already beat Tommy Haas in straight sets in Monaco.
