O’Loughlin: Warriors can’t wait for Super League defencePosted on 04/02/2014 in Rugby
Sean O'Loughlin admits he and his Wigan teammates are raring to go and defend their Super League title.
The champions, who completed a domestic double last season, begin their defence against Huddersfield at the DW Stadium on Friday (February 7th) night, a week earlier than the rest of the league's teams due to their World Club Challenge commitments.
O'Loughlin told Sky Sports News: "It's going to be a tough start, but there's a great opportunity to go to Sydney and play in the World Club Challenge, that's something the boys are really looking forward to and gives us the chance to win silverware right at the start of the season."
The Warriors captain conceded the loss of talisman Sam Tomkins to the New Zealand Warriors would leave a big hole in the Wigan squad, but the rest of the players cannot wait to step up to the challenge.
He said what he has seen of Matty Bowen so far, shows he is more than capable of filling the position.
