Lancaster hoping for Wales-like Six Nations comeback

Posted on 03/02/2014 in Rugby

After a last-minute defeat in Paris, Stuart Lancaster wants his England team to take heart from Wales' exploits last year and come back to win the Six Nations.

Twelve months ago, Wales lost their opening game of the championship but four follow-up victories saw them secure the silverware and Lancaster knows it will take a similar effort from England, who are helped by the fact they play Wales and Ireland at Twickenham.

Lancaster said: "France will be a tough side to beat, but championships aren't won in the first round.

"We're disappointed to have lost and that's probably a reflection of where we are in terms of our expectation."

England travel to Edinburgh to take on Scotland at Murrayfield in the Calcutta Cup on Saturday (February 8th) and the coach doesn't believe he will have to try too hard to motivate his players after a strong performance in the Stade de France.
