Mario Balotelli heads back to Milan

Posted on 30/01/2013 in Serie A

Mario Balotelli is on his way back to Serie A after AC Milan reached a deal with a Manchester City.

It is thought the Rossoneri could end up paying around £19.5 million for the striker just over two years after City purchased him for £24 million.

Speaking after a 0-0 draw with QPR, City boss Roberto Mancini: "We are very sorry because we love Mario. But I think that he had this big chance to go back to Italy and to play for another top club like Milan."

The Italian said that the deal for his countryman only materialised four days ago so, he had not yet had time to think about bringing replacements for him.

With just over 24 hours left of the January transfer window, Mancini faces the possibility of trying to catch Premier League leaders Manchester United with just three strikers.

The champions are currently four points behind their neighbours who have a game in hand – at home to Southampton tonight (January 30th).
