Wayne Rooney to return to Manchester United action against West HamPosted on 16/01/2013 in Premier League
Wayne Rooney could return to action tonight as Sir Alex Ferguson looks to rotate his squad for the FA CUP third-round replay against West Ham tonight (January 16th).
The striker has been sidelined for the last month with an injury he sustained in training, but now his manager feels the time is right to ease him back into his team.
Portuguese winger Nani has also been declared fit for the match after he picked up a hamstring strain in a Champions League game in November.
The news will be a welcome relief to Ferguson who will be without Ashley Young for the next few games and may want to rest topscorer Robin van Persie.
"Young has got a dull knock, a little bit of a strain on the knee, but it's nothing serious," the Scot said. "I think he'll be back next week. Maybe not for Tottenham but, the week after, he should be OK."
Captain Nemanja Vidic also provided another fitness boost for the manager, as Sir Alex revealed that he was taken off in the Premier League win against Liverpool due to concussion and not a recurrence of his knee problems.
