United ‘can do a Liverpool’ says GiggsPosted on 06/05/2014 in Premier League
Manchester United supporters have been reminded of what being a football fan is really about this season.
After decades of dominance in which they have been spoilt with success, Red Devils fans have found themselves in the unfamiliar position of watching on enviously while their rivals steal the plaudits and the silverware.
This has been hard to take for the United faithful, with David Moyes' claim that the club should aspire to be like Manchester City earlier this season not exactly going down well.
Well, it has now been suggested the reigning champions could take a leaf out of their other arch-rivals' book – Liverpool.
According to Ryan Giggs, United could emulate Brendan Rodgers' side by mounting an unexpected title challenge next season.
"I think with United you've got to try and challenge every year, so that's what we'll do … But you've seen with Liverpool … so it can happen."
United fans might not like the sounds of having to follow the lead of their bitter rivals, but if Saturday's defeat to Sunderland is anything to go by, this is something they may need to get used to.
The Red Devils play their final home game of the season tonight when they welcome FA cup finalists Hull City to Old Trafford. They are 3/10 to send their fans home partially happy with a victory.
