Roberto Di Matteo ‘not scared of dropping Fernando Torres’Posted on 19/11/2012 in Premier League
Roberto Di Matteo insists that he is not scared of dropping Fernando Torres ahead of Chelsea's crucial Champions League game against Juventus tomorrow (November 19th).
Despite a strong start to the season, the £50 million striker has now only found the back of the net once in the past seven games for his club – a run which has contributed to Chelsea falling behind both Manchester City and Manchester United in the Premier League.
Having been beat by West Brom last time out, Di Matteo is looking to make changes and Torres could find himself on the bench for the trip to Italy.
He said: "Am I prepared to leave Torres out on Tuesday? I think we will have to assess the whole team and see how everybody is and how they have recovered."
Chelsea still have a good chance of qualifying for the Champions League knockout stages, but it is vital that they avoid defeat at the Juventus Arena.
The Italian champions have hit a rocky patch themselves, having recently lost for the first time in 50 league games against Inter Milan and recording a goalless draw against Lazio at weekend.
