Chelsea v Liverpool Premier League match betting preview

Posted on 03/01/2014 in Blog, Premier League

The Christmas crackers continue in the Premier League as Liverpool travel down to London to play Chelsea on Sunday (December 29th).

Having been knocked off the top of the table by their defeat to Manchester City, the Reds will be keen to show they can cut it with the big boys and a win at Stamford Bridge would signal them as title chasers. Odds of 13/5 are on offer if you think that Liverpool can get an important victory.

Luis Suarez may be touted as the greatest player to ever wear the liver bird on his chest, but he has something of a point to prove. Despite scoring 19 goals already this Premier League season, 16 of these have come against teams in the bottom seven of the division. He has only bagged three times against the top 13 sides.

If he can choose not to sink his teeth into Branislav Ivanovic's arm he could rectify that record here. Suarez is priced at 7/2 to score first.

While Brendan Rodgers has been busy at Weight Watchers classes and turning Liverpool into prolific scorers, Jose Mourinho has been quietly dismantling last year's King's Road entertainers. Jose will argue that he has very little attacking talent to work with at the Blues – think he is looking at you Fernando – and needs to ensure his team is solid.

A turgid 0-0 at the Emirates and a 1-0 win over Swansea on Boxing Day could be viewed as evidence of the way the Special One sees his team progressing. Chelsea are priced at 47/20 to keep a clean sheet, while a 1-0 home win is on offer at 81/10.

However, if Chelsea are going to win, who will get the goal? Eden Hazard is available at 41/20 to score at anytime.
