Chelsea lose Drogba to ChinaPosted on 21/06/2012 in Premier League
The striker – who scored the in both finals as well as hitting the winning penalty in the Munich shootout – will leave Stanford Bridge having signed a two-and-a-half year contract with Chinese team Shanghai Shengua.
Drogba's existing deal with Chelsea ran out at the end of last season, but the club were hopeful of keeping him, especially after his Champions League final heroics.
However, after much speculation the Ivorian believes he has made the right choice.
He said: "When Chelsea went to China last year, we had a great time and I met some amazing fans.
"I hope to help promote Chinese football around the world and further improve the links between China and Africa."
The move will see him reunite with former Blues teammate Nicolas Anelka and Shenhua owner Zhu Jun said the new addition will fit in well at Shanghai.
