Ronaldo: No new Real deal

Posted on 05/08/2013 in Blog, La Liga

Cristano Ronaldo has rebuked claims that he has signed a new five-year deal to stay at Real Madrid.

Marca had reported that the Portuguese player had agreed a contract that would see him stay at the Bernabeu until 2018, but quotes have emerged in AS stating the contrary.

"The situation still hasn't been resolved and I don't think now is the right time to talk about it.

"Perhaps we'll be able to give more concrete news about this further down the line but now the only thing in my remit is to train and work," the paper cites Ronaldo as saying.

He was purchased from Manchester United for a world record fee back in 2009 and as Real prepare to break the £80 million mark to bring Gareth Bale to La Liga, Ronaldo has been linked with a move back to his former club.

The superstar also refused to talk about the bid for Bale, stating that he has his opinion, but it will remain private.

Madrid play Chelsea in the final of the Guinness Cup on Wednesday (August 7th) – a match that pits Blues manager Jose Mourinho against his old club.
