Mourinho leaves Real ‘after worst season ever’Posted on 21/05/2013 in La Liga
Real Madrid have confirmed that Jose Mourinho will leave them at the end of the season.
The self-styled Special One was still under contract at the Bernabeu, but a deal has been struck by mutual consent, meaning that no compensation will be paid to either party.
President Florentino Perez said this was the right moment to end the "relationship".
When he joined Los Blancos from Inter Milan, Mourinho stated that he wanted to deliver La Demica, but the closest he got was a semi-final defeat to Borussia Dortmund this season.
Real did win La Liga last season with a record points total, but have led a woeful defence of the title this year.
Furthermore, after losing the final of the Copa del Rey to Atletico Madrid, the Portuguese manager called this his worst season ever.
PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti is one of the favourites to take over in Madrid, but Perez insists no agreement has been made with anyone to succeed Mourinho.
He said: "We have not agreed any pre-contract with any coach. That is a job for the next few days."
