Joe Hart: England can beat the heat and the competition at the World Cup

Posted on 19/05/2014 in International

Joe Hart insists England will not use the temperatures of Brazil as an excuse if they underperform at the World Cup.

The England goalkeeper and his teammates will have to deal with intense heat in Brazil, particularly in their opening fixture against Italy in the Amazonian city of Manaus on June 14th.

"It's going to be hot out there, we're just going to have to deal with it," said Hart during a Q&A with fans on England's Facebook page.

"No excuses when we're out there, it's only weather," he added.

Manager Roy Hodgson will try to acclimatise his squad with training camps in Portugal and Miami and Hart is confident the players will be fully prepared for the jungle.

When asked if England can win the tournament, the Manchester City star, who has just celebrated his second Premier League title, said: "Why not? We are all winners."

Is Hart right? Can England beat the likes of Spain, Argentina and the hosts? Can the Three Lions even get through the 90 minutes in Manaus?
