Chris Woakes flies out to Australia for ODIsPosted on 06/01/2014 in Blog, Cricket
Chris Woakes has been added to England's one-day squad in the latest shake-up of the misfiring playing staff.
England named their original squad for the one-day international (ODI) series in Australia last month, but the form of some players has left doubts in the minds of the selectors.
A tweet from the England and Wales Cricket Board read: "Chris Woakes has been added to the England ODI squad and will join up with the team in Melbourne."
Although the England camp are yet to confirm any fresh injuries on a tour that has already seen Jonathan Trott return home and Graeme Swann retire, the inclusion of Woakes will cover both Boyd Rankin and Steve Finn, who have failed to impress so far down under.
However, the 24-year-old himself has not featured in the 50-overs team since an 86-run defeat by New Zealand in June.
Can Woakes help the ODI team to restore some pride to a disheartened England team or will the Aussies be too strong?
