Bopara and Morgan help England overcome IrelandPosted on 04/09/2013 in Cricket
England have defeated Ireland in the one-day international in Dublin, with unbeaten centuries from Ravi Bopara and Eoin Morgan helping them on their way.
Captain Morgan hit 124 and Bopara chalked up 101 for a fifth wicket stand of 226 to ensure England claimed the victory with seven overs remaining.
The six-wicket win came after Ireland captain William Porterfield had earlier hit 112 to help his side post 269-7, leaving England chasing 270 to win in front of 10,000 fans at Malahide.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Morgan said: "It was nice to get some time in the middle and get a win. It was quite a nervous day for some of our guys."
England will now turn their attentions to the upcoming one-day series against Australia. They will hope the victory over Ireland will give them a boost going into the five-match series, which gets underway on Friday (September 6th) at Headingley.
