Australia ‘need to show a major improvement at Old Trafford’Posted on 09/07/2012 in Cricket
Mickey Arthur has challenged his Australia team to show a marked improvement in the final one-day international match at Old Trafford on Tuesday (July 10th).
So far in the series, England have enjoyed three comfortable victories with the third encounter at Edgbaston being rained off.
He stated: "I've said it all through our home summer, there's just something missing. I'm not sure what it is. Is it character, is it ambition?"
Arthur said he is looking for a response in Manchester.
Australia are still the number one-ranked team in the 50-over format of the game and the coach knows that his players have the talent, but he will also need to overcome injuries to two of his most experienced players.
Both Shane Watson and Brett Lee picked up calf strains in Saturday's eight-wicket defeat at Durham.
Left-armer Mitchell Starc, who has been in good form for Yorkshire so far this summer, has been drafted into the squad as cover.
