England will be at Brazil World CupPosted on 16/10/2013 in Blog, International
Roy Hodgson is digging out his Speedos after England secured their place in next year's World Cup in Brazil with a fine 2-0 win over Poland.
Goals from Wayne Rooney and captain Steven Gerrard were enough to put a smile on their manager's face and give him the three points he needed to top the qualifying group and secure automatic qualification.
"It's great. It's been our goal and I suppose you could even say it is a dream for every national team and every national team coach to lead his team out in a World Cup in Brazil," Hodgson said.
England had stuttered early on in the campaign, but came through the ten matches unbeaten and when the pressure was on in the final two must-win games, England delivered – something the manager thinks will help them in the finals.
Hodgson now has eight months to prepare for the World Cup and wants to give some of his fringe players match time in upcoming friendlies, but the Three Lions will not be seeded when they get there.
